Our comprehensive programme is easy to use and enjoyable.
Phonological awareness
Focussing on phonological awareness and development, builds the foundational skills students experiencing reading difficulties need, to progress in a systematic manner.
Reading fluency
The importance of reading fluency as a bridge between effortful decoding and comprehension has long been recognised by scientific research. If readers can decode words accurately but have to use a large proportion of their cognitive resources to do so, they have fewer of those resources available for comprehension.
Nonsense words
Adding nonsense words (which must be decoded), is more effective than simply using real words, which can be learnt by sight. Reading nonsense words gives students structured and effective grapheme and phoneme training.
Research
Precision Phonics has been developed following thorough research into the reading process and its many influencing factors.
Aravis 2020 font
The font used throughout is Aravis 2020 (created by Crossbow Education), which was designed to: “draw the reader in with minimal brain bandwidth used, to enable more focus on the content.”
Additional reading skills
The later stages of the programme target fluent readers, looking at additional reading skills together with spelling, dictation exercises and sentence comprehension.
How Precison Phonics works
It is designed to build a student’s decoding skills and enable them to overlearn the phonemes they will use in reading and spelling, developing phonological awareness, understanding and reading fluency.
Placement Test
The programme incorporates a Placement Test to enable accurate starting points for students taking part in the programme. In addition assessment for learning is built into Precision Phonics, through the Standard Celeration Chart.

Combined with our experience and knowledge, together with extensive research, we have created this easy to use, structured, systematic, cumulatve and enjoyable resource. Students are provided with stimulating material, to facilitate their success.
